Jehlum-Ancient Battlefield
Jhelum on the bank of the River is known as City of Soldiers or Land of Martyrs and Warriors. It was the battle field of the Hydaspes between the armies of Alexander and King Porus. A city called Bucephala was founded nearby to commemorate the death of Alexander's horse, Bucephalus.
16th Century Rohtas Fort
Built by Raja Todar Mal on the orders of Sher Shah Suri to suppress the local allies of Mughals and to block the advances of emperor Humayun who had been exiled to Persia after his defeat at the Battle of Kannauj, It was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1997
Nandana Fort (6-11th Century)
Nandana Fort earliest surviving Hindu monuments (6-11th Century) is situated on a hilltop (1,500 feet high) and it is 22KM east of Pind Dadan Khan in Baghanwala village. It was built by Anandapala of the Hindu Shahi dynasty. Later, it was conquered by Mahmud Ghaznavi in 1013 AD.
Nandana Fort Where Al-Biruni Measured Earth's Radius
Nandana Fort is a place of historical significance, where renowned mathematician Abu Rehan al-Bairuni measured the circumference of the Earth.He wrote a book focusing on these subjects with the name of Al-Hind.
Conservation and Preservation of the Historical Sites
Prime Minister, Pakistan Imran Khan inaugurating the heritage trail project at Nandana Fort in Jhelum. He said the conservation and preservation of the historical sites in Jhelum was aimed to convert them into international heritage and tourism sites. He ordered for the rehabiltaion of Fort.

Tilla JOGIAN-The HILL OF JOGIS
Tilla Jogian was one of the holiest meditative sites for both Jogis and Sikh Gurus for nearly two millennia. Located, 24 kilometres southwest of Jhelum at 3,200ft above sea level- It is the highest peak of the Salt Range famous for its temples, forts and fossilized rocks and trees. Tilla Jogian remained Hindu pilgrimage centre for at least 2000 years. The founder of Sikh faith, Guru Nanak meditated here for 40 days in the early 1500s.The Mughal Emperor Akbar visited the site twice In 1748, Ahmad Shah Abdali sacked and looted the monastery. The complex was quickly rebuilt by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the late 19th century commemorated the visit of Guru Nanak with the construction of a stone-lined pond, and construction of a small monument to mark the exact spot at which Guru Nanak is said to have usually meditated.
Monument of Bucephalus
Alexander the great of Macedonia is one of those kings who are equally famous in the East and also in the West. After conquering Punjab, his favourite horse Bucephalus died. Alexander buried his horse near town of Jalalpur Sharif in district Jhelum just before or after his famous battle of Raja Porus on the other side of the river Jhelum in May, 326 BC.
Khewra Salt Mine
Khewra salt mine located in Pind Dadan Khan of Jhelum is the second-largest salt in world. It was discovered by the troops of Alexander in 320BC during his Indian Campaign but the trading of salt was started in Mughal Rule. Nearly 300,000 people visit mine yearly. It is one of the major tourist spots for tourists. It produces pink salt, which is famous in the whole world.
Gurdwara Sri Chowa Sahib
The sacred site of Gurdwara Sri Chowa Sahib is showing its splendour outside Kabuli Darwaza (gate) of Rohtas Fort on the bank of River Ghan. Guru Nanak Sahib Ji arrived here from Tila Jogian. Guru Nanak started a water spring (called 'Chowa') using his stick Later Sher Shah built a magnificent fort.
Gurdwara Sri Janam Asthan Mata Sahib Kaur
Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, was born on the 1st November 1681 in a village called Rohtas (inside the main gate), Jehlum. Mata Sahib Kaur, is known as the "Mother of the Khalsa". Mata Sahib Devan lived Guru Gobind Singh and serve the Guru and his family. It was repaired during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
The Mysterious Tomb of Khair-un-Nisa
Outside the Langar Khani Gate of Rohtas Fort is the tomb of a lady called Khair Un Nisa. She was later moved to Sasaram. Pages of history are quiet on the identity of lady parents. She was a general who fought alongside the great Suri King and was buried outside of Rohtas. The body was later moved to Sasaram where Sher Shah Suri lies buried along with his generals which explains the present-day emptiness of the tomb. Research by Imran, a blogger from Ontario.
St. John's Church 1860
On 7 July 1857, 35 British soldiers of the 24th Regiment of Foot were killed by mutineers in Jhelum during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The St. John's Church was built to commemorate the eventual British victory in the rebellion, and a lectern now stands in the church as a memorial to the dead British soldiers. St. John's Church is an Anglican church, built in 1860 and is a landmark of the city. It is a Protestant church and was in use during the British colonial period.
