Murree is a British colonial town established in 1851 by the then governor of Punjab, Sir Henry Lawrence. Murree means “high place” situated at 33.35’ north latitude and 73. 27’ eastern longitudes.

Lieutenant Colonel Sir Francis Edward Younghusband,  a British Army officer, explorer, and spiritual writer was born in 1863 at Murree, British India (now Pakistan). He wrote famous book Wonders of the Himalayas in 1924. For this achievement, aged still only 24, he was elected the youngest member of the Royal Geographical Society and received the society’s 1890 Patron’s Gold Medal.

According to old legend, the name 'Murree' is derived from 'Marium' or Mary. Among locals it is know as "Mai Mari da Asthan" ("Resting Place")

Lawrence College Murree

Established in 1860 by Sir Henry Lawrence, started as an asylum with the object to provide a plain and practical education to the orphans and the children of the British soldiers in India.

Historic GPO Murree

The historic GPO building was built by the British in 1867. Today, its façade is completely different from the original one. The GPO building is situated at the beginning of The Mall.

Chahrehan, Murree-recently restored century-old forest bungalow!!

Situated near the Lower Topa, at the end of the Murree Expressway, the Cherhan rest house was built in 1913. It has three bedrooms, along with a sunroom and a dining area. The rest house crumbled during the 2005 earthquake. Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan stayed at the rest house between July 8 and 12, 1992, after the 1992 cricket world cup with his foreign friends.  Pratap Singh of Imperial Forest Service and Mr and Mrs K C Robinson were apparently frequent visitors in the past.

Kotli Sattian is one of most beautiful village of Pakistan. In kotli Sattian a beautiful waterfall is present which called Neela Shandh. 
Neela Sandh is blue water pond on Lehtrar Road Islamabad. This beautiful waterfall is located in District Mori Syedan, Tehsil Kotli Sattian Rawalpindi. It’s almost 40 km away from capital city Islamabad. If you are a citizen of Rawalpindi or nearby area, you can have an amazing time here every weekend! This is located at 45 minutes’ drive from khanapul on Islamabad Highway.
