Lieutenant Colonel Sir Francis Edward Younghusband, a British Army officer, explorer, and spiritual writer was born in 1863 at Murree, British India (now Pakistan). He wrote famous book Wonders of the Himalayas in 1924. For this achievement, aged still only 24, he was elected the youngest member of the Royal Geographical Society and received the society’s 1890 Patron’s Gold Medal.

The historic GPO building was built by the British in 1867. Today, its façade is completely different from the original one. The GPO building is situated at the beginning of The Mall.
Chahrehan, Murree-recently restored century-old forest bungalow!!
Situated near the Lower Topa, at the end of the Murree Expressway, the Cherhan rest house was built in 1913. It has three bedrooms, along with a sunroom and a dining area. The rest house crumbled during the 2005 earthquake. Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan stayed at the rest house between July 8 and 12, 1992, after the 1992 cricket world cup with his foreign friends. Pratap Singh of Imperial Forest Service and Mr and Mrs K C Robinson were apparently frequent visitors in the past.
